🐢WELCOME to Mr. Beekman's Virtual Field Trip to the NEW YORK STATE MUSEUM and beyond!
This trip will explore the experience of immigrants coming to America through Ellis Island
Step 1: Ms. Kat Morehouse with take your inside the Immigration Exhibits of the New York State Museum. Explore Ellis Island and the experiences that new immigrants faced after entering the United States.
Step 2: Take a trip to visit the crown of the State of Liberty at Ellis Island.
Step 3: This video from the History Channel explores the immigrant experience at Ellis Island.
Step 4: And finally, a voyage using real pictures from history showing the steps an immigrant went through to pass through (hopefully) Ellis Island to live in America.
Reflection #1) Several of our Field Trip videos talked about immigrants. Explain what an immigrant is in your own words.
Reflection #2) Tell about 3 things you learned about during your Virtual Field Trip exploring the Ellis Island Experience.
One thing I learned is:
Another thing I learned is:
A third thing I learned is:
😀Mr. Beekman says, "My favorite video was STEP 4 because it made me feel like I was actually there as an immigrant going through the process of seeing the Statue of Liberty and entering Ellis Island hoping to make a new life for my family in America...." What was your favorite?
Reflection #3) Tell Mr. Beekman which of today's video exhibits did you like best? *
Why did you choose this video exhibit as your favorite?
Our final stop at the New York State Museum is a trip to roof for a ride on the New York State Carousel. This carousel was built in 1914 and travelled around from carnival to carnival for many years before moving to the museum. When the Museum re-opens, you must take a REAL RIDE on this famous (and fun) piece of New York history!
Thank you for joining us for our Virtual Field Trip to the New York State Museum and beyond! Have a safe "bus ride" home! 😎
