Join experienced Copeland Center trainers for California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Training, a requirement for taking the certification exam.
To seek Certification as Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist an individual must meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Be self-identified as having experience with the process of recovery from a mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent, caregiver or family member of a consumer.
- Be willing to share their experience.
- Have a strong dedication to recovery.
- Agree, in writing, to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
- Successfully complete the training requirements for a peer support specialist.
- Pass the state-approved certification examination.
The Copeland Center's 10-day course utilizes experiential learning methods so you will be learning through practicing, sharing, reflecting. This hands-on approach is the most effective way to bring the philosophy and research of peer support into practical methods that can be used for a successful career. We are not only learning about practices and applications for future roles and relationships as certified peer specialist, we are also building and learning from the very peer relationships present in this course.
Tuition is $1650.00
Tuition includes 5 days online and 5-days in-person training with experienced trainers and all materials. Travel not included.
