WKFK park Liberation celebration 12:30-3pm

Application & Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed and we reserve the right to refuse applications. All applicants must be LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly.  Intersectionality is a must and the reason for our combined event. Applicants will be notified within 3 business days of application and your area of selection will be sent by 5pm AKST June 11, 2022.
Application Deadline:  Sunday June 12, 2022 at 5pm AKST

Time Commitment & Asks:
We will start setting up around 10am to ensure signage for parking and folks who might need  help. Vendors will be able to set up by 9:00 am - 12:00 and volunteers can assist in setting up audio and signage. Breakdown at WKFL park can begin at 3pm

Please note: do not park at business parking spots next to WKFL park and there will be a loading/unloading zone. We ask that after you have unloaded (if necessary), you park at designated parking as said parking will become handicap accessible parking during the event.

For crossing guards, please be at your assigned street crossing by 12:00 noon. Feel free to bring a portable speaker and play some upbeat music!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and how it affects LGBTQ+ & BIPOC folks disproportionately, as members of the community we ask that you practice safety by using or having hand sanitizer, wear masks and practice social distancing when possible. Our marginalized communities are at a higher risk of encountering many of the economic setbacks already experienced such as unemployment, difficulty paying bills and health. We do not want our event to contribute to setbacks and would appreciate you keeping our community safe.
Indemnity:

By completing the volunteer application form, the volunteer is agreeing to not hold the Homer Pride for any debt, tax, assessments, salary, and/or expense incurred by the volunteer.  Further, Homer Pride shall not be liable for the result of any accident or damage to any person or article  while at the Homer pride event,  whether such accident, loss or damage occurs during the time of set up, take down, or during the event itself.  The volunteer agrees to hold harmless the Homer Pride from any and all claims for damages, demands, or suits, arising from injuries or damages that may result from the activities and business of the vendor in connection with this contract.

Basic Rules:
Juneteenth X Homer Pride is an LGBTQ+ positive event hosted by Homer Pride.  We believe in the inclusion and recognition of the importance of empowering our BIPOC friends, family, allies and communities.  As such, Volunteers will be asked to help enforce the take down and removal of anti-LGBTQ+, racists, or pro-colonizer sentiments.

Pride is about inclusion and the LGBTQ+ community and the Black community have liberation movements that overlap. We acknowledge the deliberate anti-Blackness that occurs in Pride. Our goal is to create change by focusing on the necessity to be inclusive and intersectional and welcoming a joint liberation celebration.

Volunteers are also asked to help ensure safety at the event.
     1. Look around for trash or hazards and make sure the area is kept clean and safe for participants.
     2. Ensuring No fire-inducing or producing materials or devices allowed.
     3. Ensuring This is a smoke/vape free event.  There will be no smoking allowed at the liberation celebration park area. Folks are welcome to smoke across the street and away from the event.

Homer Pride would like to thank The Queens Guard for their template in this application.
