About Shri. K. Mohanan.
Guru Shri. K Mohanan, Professor, Kalakshetra Foundation is a versatile and experienced bharatanatyam dancer and teacher. He has been a senior faculty member of Kalakshetra Foundation for the past 32 years and is currently a professor at this esteemed institution. Apart from being a well established bharatanatyam performer, he has imbibed the expertise in nattuvangam and is a recipient of the most coveted national merit scholarship from Government of India for bharatanatyam and nattuvangam. He has been conferred with prestigious awards – Natya Kalaivanan and Natya Kalaimamani – for his immense contribution to the field.
Guru Shri. K. Mohanan has spread Kalakshetra’s fame and culture across the globe traveling to more than twenty-five countries, including USA, UK, Japan, and the Middle East. He is also an academician with an extensive research background.
Smt. Sunitha Mohanan, wife and disciple of Shri. K. Mohanan, runs the Nritya Kiran academy of dance for over two decades. She is the recipient of Nrithya Kalaivani award. The duo, apart from performing in various places across the country, have dedicated their life to producing many young talents in this field.
