Sandyston Walpack School Health Opt-Out Form
Dear SWS Parent or Guardian:

The New Jersey Department of Education has adopted the 2020 New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education. As a result, The Kittatinny Regional Consortium has revised and updated the regional Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Curriculum, K-8. We value the importance of partnering with families as we educate students in the knowledge and skills they need in order to lead a healthy, active life. We invite you to examine and discuss this information with your child prior to the instructional units at school, specifically, the content related to Personal Growth and Development and Sexual Health Education. The curriculum guide is available on the district website for your review  - ADD LINK.

Directions: By clicking each grade level below, you will be able to view a list of topics for each grade level. Materials/resources for each topic are available upon request.

Parents/Guardians do have the option of excluding their child from certain portions of Personal Growth and Development (Grade 2) and Sexual Health (Grades 3, 4, 5, 6) education instruction if it is in conflict with their conscience, morally, or religiously held beliefs. (*Please see NJ Statute Section 18A:35-4.7). Students who are excused will be assigned to a separate location for the duration of those identified lessons and will be expected to complete an independent study assignment/project.

If you wish to excuse your child from any topic, please click your child's grade level and choose the topics to excuse them from. Please complete the next page and submit the Google Form no later than January 31st.
