Their working conditions = our learning conditions!

We, the undersigned students, stand in solidarity with the strike called by the University and College Union (UCU) to defend pensions, for fair pay, job security, manageable workloads, and to end gender and ethnic pay gaps. The disruption to university is the fault of university bosses and managements who refuse to ensure decent work for our teaching staff - going on strike is the last resort to defend their conditions of work, which are our learning conditions.

As the university attacks the pay of our lecturers and leaves staff on insecure, temporary contracts, so too they attack our chance of the university education we signed up for. The marketised model of university exploits us all, and must be addressed as the root cause. Students and workers together can transform the university into the one we need - that starts with supporting this strike!
