Please read the information below and complete the questionnaire below by March 1st to confirm your spot in our Spring Showcase! (If not received by March 1st, we'll assume you've changed your mind about performing.)
Ideally, you should be working on choreographing and rehearsing a minimum of one hour per week. Options:
1. PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS
2. GROUP CLASS: use the last 20 minutes of group class (Please feel free to remind your instructor if you need this time!)
3. OPEN STUDIO: Fridays at 2:30pm & Sunday mornings at 9am:

5. POP-UP OPEN STUDIOS: we've been brainstorming ways to give you more practice time options. If a class isn't full 24 hours ahead, we can offer available rig points for rehearsal time. Please use ear buds and quietly rehearse on your own so as not to interfere with the class in session. Check the app/website frequently for these Pop-up Open Studio offerings on weekday evenings and weekends.
AUDITIONS: Mark your calendars for the WEEK OF APRIL 5TH!! That week, we will have in-class "auditions" for the showcase. Don't worry: it's not a real audition! It's just dedicated class time for you to show us where you are with your piece: you'll get helpful feedback and support from your instructors & fellow Upsiders. By audition week, you should be pretty much finished choreographing your piece and ready to spend the final 3 weeks before dress rehearsal practicing and fine-tuning. We will also be very honest with you...if it looks like you're not prepared enough to be safe and ready for the Spring Showcase, we'll plan to have you work toward the Fall Showcase instead. (Safety is ALWAYS our top priority!) Â
COSTUME & MAKEUP PLANNING: Below are some resources to help you with this. Please be sure your costume is apparatus-friendly (i.e. doesn't have buckles, big gems, or poky headpieces). If you plan to wear a leotard, be sure to wear tights (footless, transition, or stirrup) to protect the legs. Also, given you will probably spend some time upside down during your performance: please check your costume for potential wardrobe malfunctions, keeping in mind that you will probably have a bright spotlight shining directly on your butt or crotch at some point during your performance. 🙂 Suggested resources:
