Summer 2023 Camp Internship Application
This application is the first step in to be a STEM Center USA Camp Intern! Each year, we welcome summer camp interns to join us in a memorable, learning-filled, FUN summer! This summer STEM Center USA will be offering Monday - Friday K-12 Day Camps in the following cities:

- Claremont at El Roble Intermediate School
- Rancho Cucamonga at STEM Center USA Rancho Cucamonga
- Pomona at Cal Poly Pomona
- San Diego at UCSD
- Santa Barbara at UCSB

Camps will be blended age (ex. 1st - 3rd, 3rd - 6th) with half-day (9 PM - 12 PM at Claremont with some 2 PM - 5 PM camps at Rancho Cucamonga) and full-day options (9 AM - 3 PM). This summer, our STEM Center USA intern selection process uses the following format:

1) Initial Google Application (this link)
2) Live Interview (in-Person or Virtual) with STEM Center USA Camp Director (by invite only)

A possible One-Way Recorded Interview, by invite only, may be shared after this Initial Google Application

Interns will be notified of their status no later than May 13, 2023.

This position is a high-energy, fun, meaningful and high-impact experience. Camp topics include junior robotics, electronics, coding, game design, intermediate robotics, and more! No robotics or coding experience is necessary, we will train you on this! The position includes:

Pre-camp training and orientation will occur for ~8-12 hours between Mid April 2023 to early June 2023 (training will be available in-person in Claremont/Rancho Cucamonga with some virtual options for those at other locations)
Camp Dates: Camp dates vary by site. Camps fall within June 5, 2023 to August 11, 2023.

Internship Hours (~8:30 AM - 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM, or ~8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday)

Camp Stipend
This is an unpaid internship. However, we will share a stipend of $150 for each week you are interning.

Requirements
- Interest in working with K12 students
- Ability to work in-person at one or more camp locations
- Available to work for at least two full camp weeks or more

Interns typically are high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Interns may also be collegiate first years.

Responsibilities 
  • Assist Lead Camp Instructor in class setup and clean up.
  • Support all staff and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Help students to participate successfully in all aspects of the program.
  • Interact with students to maintain a fun learning environment.
  • Aid in classroom management. 
  • Assist with keeping the camp room clean and organized.
The Internship Program includes:
- Pre-Camp Training
- Weekly Camp Reflections
- Mentorship Match with Camp Instructor
- College/Career Guided Conversations

STEM Center USA Camp Instructors will learn and develop their:
- Communications skills with students, peers, and parents
- Teaching skills
- Professional development
- Technical STEM Skills including robotics, electronics, and coding!

STEM Center USA Camp interns are now students at universities across the country including Columbia, UCLA, UPenn, Yale, Cal Poly Pomona, and more! Other camp interns have also gone on to become current STEM Center USA instructors.
