Introduction - How to get a Handicap at Kenmare GC
Hi Member, to get you set up with a handicap as quickly as possible please follow these steps:

1. New members who have had previous handicaps should contact their past club and request them to forward a handicap certificate to the Handicap Secretary, else continue to step 2.

2. Complete 54 holes in combinations of 9-hole and 18-hole cards
Clearly indicate the dates you played and markers you played off
The cards should be signed by a Golf Ireland member and their membership number included (see below for an example of a card submission)

3. Complete the questionnaire below

5. Have you ever been a member of a golf club before *
5a.  If you were a member of a club previously, please state club and last active year
5b. Did you have a handicap? If yes enter your last playing handicap. *
6. Briefly describe your previous sporting history i.e. pitch & putt, GAA, soccer, hockey, tennis, cricket etc.?
7. Have you been a member of a Golf Society? If yes, please enter your last society handicap.
Player Responsibilities
A player is expected to:
Act with integrity by following the Rules of Handicapping and to refrain from using, or circumventing, the Rules of Handicapping for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage,
Attempt to make the best score possible at each hole (Rule 1)
Submit acceptable scores for handicap purposes as soon as possible after the round is completed and before midnight local time.
Submit acceptable scores to provide reasonable evidence of their demonstrated ability,
Play by the Rules of Golf, and where a player is a member of a golf club located in a different jurisdiction from the location of their home club, the player may be required to hold a separate Handicap Index issued by the Authorized Association responsible for handicapping within the different jurisdiction. While such a requirement is discouraged, in order to ensure the same Handicap Index is issued by both Authorized Associations, it is the player’s responsibility to return all acceptable scores to both their home club and the golf club that is located in the different jurisdiction.
