Lakeside COVID-19 Safe Operating Guidelines & Agreement
We are happy to announce that the Lakeside Community Garden will be open for the 2020 gardening season.  YAY!!! However, given the current state of emergency in the province, we will not be allowed to operate as we normally do and will need to comply with restrictions and preventative measures developed in consultation with the Kingston Community Gardens Network, local garden representatives and KFL&A Public Health.  Please read through these guidelines, fill out the questions and sign the document.

You will be permitted to access the garden only once you have read and completed this form. If you do not wish to garden this year, please email the board at lakesidegarden70@gmail.com and your plot will be used to grow food for donation.

Preamble
Until further notice, the LCG cannot be a recreational space or place for social gatherings. The garden can be used solely for essential food production. In-person events, including work bees, workshops and potlucks will be deferred until these restrictions have been lifted.

Should any restrictions change with respect to the provincially mandated physical distancing guidelines, those guidelines will apply immediately, and will be communicated to our members via email or phone call.

Despite the current situation and unfortunate restrictions, we hope to see you out there gardening and getting some fresh air. Please remember to wash all produce before consumption according to safe food handling requirement. If you need support maintaining your garden, please contact the board by email at lakesidegarden70@gmail.com.

If you will be gardening, we encourage you to grow food for donation this year, as there is a higher need in the community due to COVID disruptions.  We hope to continue our weekly donation program to support Loving Spoonful’s Grow A Row program. https://www.lovingspoonful.org/grow-a-row.

Self Screening

The Ontario Covid-19 self-assessment tool can be found at: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/

If you become ill or self-quarantine is necessary, please contact the board so that alternate arrangements can be made to care for your plot until you are able to safety resume gardening.

Physical distancing
Everyone in the garden must always maintain physical distancing of 6 feet or 2 metres (unless gardening with members of the same household).

LCG is a large garden therefore we do not have a restriction on the total number of people that can tend to their plots at any one time provided physical distancing is maintained.

No gatherings of more than 5 people are allowed except with your household group. However, we ask that you refrain from these gatherings, minimize your time at the garden and your social interactions.

No guests are allowed in the garden, only registered members and their immediate household and approved volunteers are permitted.

Not following these rules could compromise our garden remaining open.

Children should only be brought to garden on an as-needed basis and must be instructed to follow the physical distancing and hygiene guidelines.  Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring their children meet these guidelines. Unfortunately, this year the children’s plots will be closed.

Both the south and north entrances can be used to access the garden.  The north gate will remain open at all times.
