Once you are accepted as an LbE Hawaii Leader, you will need to fill out other paperwork for legal and tax purposes. You will be contacted within 24 hours of receiving your application form.

INTRODUCTION

LbE Hawaii is a local educational organization based in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, supporting, designing, and operating educational experiences for learners across the state of Hawaiʻi and from all over the world. Most learners come from Japan. 

Our diverse program themes include: sustainable development, global competency, intercultural communication, cultural exchange, career preparation, leadership, and team work.

Our learners gain new skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, leadership, and essentially become advocates for sustainability - making the world a better place.


REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN LBE HAWAII LEADER
  • Young adults who are current or recently graduated college students (must be 18 years or older)
  • Eligible to work in the US, Individuals capable of working in the U.S. All registrants will be required to fill out an I9 form and show proof of eligibility.
  • Available for the full duration from the beginning to the end of the program
  • Able to arrive on time to the reporting location/time
  • Available for a mandatory 30 min - 1 hour (paid) orientation, date will be determined based on your availability as well as the organizer's
  • Act as a group leader responsible for 4~8 students from Japan
  • Speak in English ONLY (no Japanese)
  • Support your group in preparing and understanding concepts of the program activities
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and happiness of your group
  • A working smartphone that has data for usage throughout the program
  • Communicate well with the Program Manager / Support Staff in-person or with the use of an app
  • Access to a smartphone with exceptional battery and use of data, and able to download various app(s) depending on the program
FREQUENCY OF WORK & RECRUITMENT PROCESS
  • LbE Hawaii programs occur sporadically throughout the year. LbE Hawaii does not have any control as to when programs occur, as it is entirely up to the client (mainly schools from Japan)
  • The months of March, August, October, November, and December are typically "busier" seasons while other months are "quiet"
  • All LbE Hawaii Leaders within the database will receive an email 1-2 months prior to a scheduled program
  • To sign up for a program, simply reply to the email. A selection notice will be made no less than 2 weeks prior to the program date via email.
COMPENSATION
  • $14.50 / hr for time worked at programs (report time to dismissal time, including time during breaks and meals, leader orientations, and 1 hour minimum paid time to create a Leader Presentation - if applicable)
  • If there is a meal period during a program: a meal is either provided or a reimbursement of up to $15 in meal expenses is provided
Selection will be generally be based on a first-come-first-served basis as well as other factors such as experience level, reliability, major (some programs may request for specific university majors), etc.

If your application is approved, and once you sign up for your first program, you will be asked to join a one-time 30~60 minute mandatory 1 on 1 online Zoom call orientation session to go over the company background, leader expectations, and preparation information for the program(s) you are signed up for. Please indicate your general availability for a zoom call below and we will do our best to accommodate you:
