Informed ConsentI have been invited by Noriel P. Calaguas, MSHSA, RN, ACRN, a researcher and Ph.D. candidate from Holy Angel University – School of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences. He is currently collecting the data needed for his dissertation “Development of the Philippine HIV/AIDS Competency Model Framework”.
The modified Delphi study aims to identify nurses' core competencies in HIV/AIDS care and conceptualize an HIV/AIDS Nursing Core Competency model for the Philippines. The results may serve as the core competency framework for HIV/AIDS nursing care in the Philippines. The results can inform educational leaders on program development, nursing administration on workforce specification and performance evaluation, nursing research to advance nursing science, and the public as recipients of improved quality of care.
To be eligible to participate you should be an individual who is [1} A healthcare professional: and satisfy two criteria: 1) a healthcare professional (nurse [RN], or physician [MD]) must have at least 3 years of practice experience providing direct patient care to PLWHA or those at risk for HIV, and 2) held a position that required oversight staff and/ or programs; OR a Person Living with HIV/AIDS.
I will be asked to answer an online survey in Google Forms, which may take 30-60 minutes across 3 to 5 rounds of assessment, to arrive at a consensus on the core competencies needed for HIV/AIDS nursing practice in the Philippines. Once consensus is achieved. The resultant competency framework will be proofread and presented to the members of the Delphi panel and the public through a colloquium.
The benefits of your participation include helping to identify and to develop the competency model for HIV/AIDS nursing in the country. You will be furnished a copy of the result upon your request. No foreseeable direct or indirect harm is anticipated with your participation. No monetary compensation is associated with your participation/ completion of the study. At any point in the survey, you retain the right to refuse further participation or withdrawal participation free from any prejudice and discrimination.
All information shall be treated with utmost confidentiality and privacy in accordance with relevant laws. Reporting of the results will be done collectively. Individual results will not be handed to the administrator/institution that I am currently affiliated with, hence will not in any way affect my relationship with them and my tenure. The data shall be stored in a password-encrypted computer and printed files will be kept in a locked cabinet for 5 years before deletion and shredding. Information from this research will be used for the purpose of this dissertation, publication, and possible secondary analysis within the abovementioned time period.
