In 2022, Australia officially became the eighth country to join the global Swarovski Foundation Waterschool program after a successful 2021 pilot program.
The Swarovski Foundation Waterschool program was established in Austria in 2000.What began as a local project has since evolved into a global initiative, operating within watershed areas of the world´s major rivers. The program has ensured access to clean water at schools across the globe while educating communities on proper sanitation, hygiene and water issues. Swarovski Foundation Waterschool ultimately seeks to empower children and their communities around the world to become water ambassadors by providing tools and training that address their local water challenges.
This program is delivered by Earthwatch, and inspires young Australians to become water ambassadors. The program provides an opportunity for students to use their voices to inspire their peers and wider communities to protect and conserve water both now and in the future.
We are currently accepting applications from all schools to participate in the global Swarovski Foundation Waterschool program. This program aligns with Reconciliation objectives, several components of the Australian Curriculum, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that relate to education, water, and partnerships.
Successful schools will receive teacher relief grants, travel grants, Indigenous and Environmental teacher training, peer-teaching resources and experiences, and select schools will set up on-ground environmental action projects. There will be opportunities to host events, share success stories with Waterschools around the globe, and gain access to the Swarovski Foundation Waterschool Global Curriculum to enhance classroom learning.
