Who: The ERA School of Rhetoric (SoR, or high-school) Math Team is open to ERA students in grades 9-12, and to students in grades 8 and below by coach permission. The ERA School of Logic (SoL, or middle-school) Math Team is open to ERA students in grades 6-8, and to students in grades 5 and below by coach permission. Students in grades 4-12 are invited to complete this form.

Why: The purpose of the Eagle Ridge Academy (ERA) Math Team is to (1) identify students with exceptional interest and/or mathematical ability, (2) give them recognition and encouragement, (3) bring them together with similarly motivated students, and (4) introduce them to topics not commonly taught in the high school curriculum.

What: The primary ERA SoR Math Team activity is participation in the Minnesota State High School Mathematics League (MSHSML), in which each mathlete prepares for and solves problems in two of four topics (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus) in both individual and team events over five regular-season meets and, for individuals and teams who qualify, the state tournament (14 March 2022). Secondary activities include optional participation in the annual AMC 10 or AMC 12 contests (10 and 16 November 2021), a season-end math-only banquet at season's end (21 March 2022) and a year-end Activities & Athletics banquet (June 2022).

The primary ERA SoL Math Team activity is participation in the Minnesota Junior High Math League (MNJHML), in which each mathlete prepares for and solves problems in standard middle-school math areas (Numbers & Operations, Algebra, Geometry & Measurement, Counting & Probability) in both individual and team events over five regular-season meets. Secondary activities include optional participation in the annual AMC 8 contest (mid-January 2022), MATHCOUNTS, and a season-end math-only banquet at season's end.

When: The ERA SoR Math Team will meet Mondays after school, from 4 October 2021 through 21 March 2022. Practices are 3:20-4:30 pm in Room 2136. Five regular-season meets, if held in-person, will likely mean early dismissal, with return to ERA about 6 pm; if held remotely (online), an after-school time will be specified.

The SoL Math Team practice day and time will be announced later, but will likely be either Monday or Tuesday after school.

Where: In-person practices will be in Room 2136. In-person meets will be at another school. Any remote practices and meets will be via Zoom.
