***If you would like to sign up for volunteer shifts at WisCon 45 in 2022, please sign up for shifts at: program.wiscon.net. To sign up for shifts, log in at program.wiscon.net, select the “Volunteer” tab, and click “Add shifts” on the right. This will bring up a list of all Volunteer shifts, organized by time; you can filter available shifts by role or by day.***

This survey is for people interested in helping out with the WisCon organizing committee—aka the ConCom—or with other committees within SF3 (WisCon's parent organization). A lot of the ConCom work comes in the months before the convention, but some are mostly during-con roles—though even those require some pre-WisCon communication.

This survey collects information we need to welcome you onto the ConCom, including what area(s) you might be interested in! After you finish the survey, you can expect to hear from our Personnel Committee with a welcome email and more information on attending the next ConCom meeting.

We ask that potential volunteers be aware of the following:

Academic Programming (helps recruit talks for, plans, and schedules Academic sessions)

Access (coordinates with captioning providers, oversees blue tape & signage at con, works on other issues to improve WisCon's accessibility)

Affordability (oversees the WisCon Member Assistance Fund; reviews applications for funding assistance)

AppDev (helping maintain the software tools that WisCon uses for registration, scheduling, and the WisCon mobile app)

Anti-Abuse Team (records Safety incidents, hear out cases of problematic behavior and render judgments post-con)

Art Show (dealing with the physical logistics of the Art Show and selling the art at con)

Bake Sale 2023 (organizes our annual bake sale for the Otherwise Award)

Communications (marketing, social media posts, newsletters, blog posts, website)

*Con Suite (logistics of offering food for members at con)

COVID Safety (researches national/local and other in-person con health guidelines and makes recommendations for helping WisCon be as safe as possible)

Dealer's Room (reviewing vendor submissions, vetting potential vendors, dealing with the physical logistics of the Dealer's Room at the con)

Dessert Salon (work with the hotel to create a menu of desserts; oversee ticketing and seating for the Dessert Salon)

Gaming (collecting, vetting, collating game submissions and scheduling gaming sessions; watching over sign-up binder at con)

Gathering (solicit activity ideas for the Gathering on Friday; vet activity ideas; help coordinate logistics of activites at con)

Green Room (running the con's Green Room)

*Guest of Honor Liaison (interfaces with a specific GOH to help with travel planning & at-con schedule)

Hotel (liaison between WisCon and our host hotel, working with other departments & the hotel to make sure we have the spaces and equipment we need)

Kids' Programs (oversees program items for children, provides support to teen-led programming)

*Logistics (Madison-based, supervises moving WisCon's locally-stored gear to and from the hotel)

*Online Con (online chat space moderation, video production, live streaming of programming)

Panel Programming (collects & edits panel idea submissions, runs interest survey, draws up panel schedule)

Parties (solicit party proposals and assign schedule & rooms)

Personnel (onboarding & offboarding volunteers; please only select Personnel if you have relevant experience, which might include volunteer management, HR, teaching, training, etc.)

Readings (Soliciting & scheduling author readings)

Registration (setting up/tearing down Registration desk, manage scheduling & training of Registration volunteers, on-call for membership or payment issues)

*Safer Spaces: Disability (prepare the space prior to the con and volunteer inside/at the space during the con)

*Safer Spaces: People of Color

*Safer Spaces: Trans & Genderqueer (prepare the space prior to the con and volunteer inside/at the space during the con)

SignOut (oversees the authors' signing event on Monday)

Workshop Programming (solicit workshop proposals, set workshop schedule based on interest survey)
