Ridgedale's Got Talent: Audition Form

The talent show will be held at the MET in downtown Morgantown on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. (Warm ups begin earlier that day). Auditions will be held Friday, January 13 at school during your student’s Art/PE/Music time.

To be in the talent show, your student (or group of students) must audition their act (like the TV show, America’s Got Talent) in front of a panel of judges. Only well-prepared acts will be selected to perform in the Ridgedale’s Got Talent show. Please keep in mind that only the auditions will be judged. There will not be judging during the Ridgedale’s Got Talent show.

The last day to sign up is Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023. This form will be closed at 11:59 pm that night. No forms or changes to the forms will be accepted after that time.

I will email a Mp3 file to Mrs. Roskos at croskos@k12.wv.us within 24 hours of submitting this form. I understand if I do not, my form is considered incomplete and I will not be allowed to audition.

List the equipment/props you are bringing (the only things provided are microphones, piano and stool, and a sound system to play background tracks). You are responsible for bringing all extension cords, cables, instruments, stools, tables, music stands, props, etc., needed for your act. If you are not using any additional equipment write: I am not using any additional equipment. *

What is the minute mark you need your music stopped at? This is usually used for dancers, but may apply to other acts as well. We usually recommend stopping between 1.30 - 2.30 minutes, but you'll need to listen to the song to find a good stopping point. No unauthorized changes to your show after you audition. Mrs. Roskos is not a mind reader and will not know that you have choreographed an additional 2 minutes of your song. Your music will cut off where you said it would in your audition. If you make changes you must get them approved at least 2 weeks prior to the show. (If you are performing the entire length of your song, write: I am performing the entire song.) *

Please check each box to show that you understand the rules and guidelines for the audition. Any boxes left unchecked will invalidate your form and you will not be permitted to audition. I understand: *

Acts must be less than 5 minutes. This time includes setting up and tear down time. Any act that exceeds 5 minutes will automatically be excluded from the show. An act that is between 2 and a half minutes to 4 minutes is ideal, and gives you enough time to set up and take down any equipment you may need to use.

Songs and Acts must have appropriate lyrics and content. Dances must be appropriate. Costumes/outfits must meet school dress code. Anything that does not meet these guidelines will be excluded from the show.

Singers must use a karaoke version of their song.

Music must be turned in with this form or emailed to Mrs. Roskos no later than Thursday, January 12, 2023.

No duplicate songs!!!! The use of a song is on a first come, first serve policy. If I am using a song that has already been taken, I understand that I will be asked to perform with a different song

No unauthorized changes to my show after my audition. My music will cut off where I said it would in my audition form. Any changes must be approved at least 2 weeks prior to the show.

No “No-Shows”: if I earned a spot in a previous talent show, but did not show up the night of the performance AND did not notify the school ahead of time, I will not be permitted to perform this year. We want to save our spots for the students who will be there.

I will make it interesting! I will practice in front of a mirror or video tape myself if possible. I will watch it and find ways I can improve. Singers should find a way to add some motions or movement while they perform. Dancers should have a routine: a sequence of movements that they've memorized.

I will come prepared! I will know my lyrics and know my parts. Auditions will be held during the school day on Friday, January 13, 2023 during my Related Arts time. I understand that makeups will not be scheduled if I forgot to bring all of my equipment or am not adequately prepared to audition.

Acts that will be excluded from the show are: acts that are not safe, that have the potential to endanger yourself and/or others (judges reserve the right to exclude any act due to safety reasons); Martial Arts, acts with animals; acts with food; acts and/or costumes that are not appropriate for a grade school audience. *

Parent Consent: by writing my first and last name below, I give my student permission to audition for Ridgedale’s Got Talent. I understand that the act must conform to the guidelines listed above. I understand that participation in the show is based upon a successful audition. I understand that auditions will be held during the school day Friday, Jan 13, 2023. (Groups with PreK students will be scheduled TBA). I understand that my student must be prepared for the audition and makeup auditions will not be held if my student is not prepared. *
