Monmouth University Human-Animal Wellness Collaboratory (HAWC) Research Assistant Application Form
Thank you for your interest in volunteering to be a research assistant in Monmouth University’s Human-Animal Wellness Collaboratory. We are always looking for dedicated, talented people to join our team! The Human-Animal Wellness Collaboratory (HAWC) is a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to the scientific understanding of human-animal interactions and to the application of that knowledge for improving the lives of both humans and animals in society. HAWC exists as a "collaboratory" because our research intimately involves collaborations with a range of outside institutions and community organizations devoted to animal welfare.

In addition to our on-campus animal labs and our Applied Animal Behavior Research Clinic (for pet dogs and cats in the community), we work with sites that are located off-campus as well (e.g., Six Flags, Jenkinson's Aquarium, owner's homes, veterinary clinics, etc.). Would you potentially willing to travel (via your own car) to owner’s homes, shelters, zoos, aquariums, or other field sites to conduct research? *
Would you be interested in helping with sessions in our virtual Applied Animal Behavior Research Clinic? This involves conducting Zoom sessions with dogs and cat owners (and their animals) from anywhere. Please note that these do not immediately involve direct animal contact. *

Please describe your prior research experience. This may include previous research courses you have taken, studies you have participated in, or other labs you have worked in. If none of these apply, you can write, “I don’t have any prior research experience.”
Prior to having any contact with animals in our lab, you will need to complete online training, in-person training, and submit paperwork acknowledging health risks to working with animals. These are federal, university, and lab requirements and none of these requirements will be at an additional cost to you. Are you willing to complete these requirements? *
