Recognized Young Dietitian of The Year Award (RYDY):
The purpose of the RYDY program is to recognize the competence and activities of younger dietitians in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and to encourage their continued participation in association affairs. This group will be an additional resource from which the leadership of the association will develop both at the district, state, and national levels.- Member of AND and participates actively in the national, state, or district association.
- 35 years or younger.
- Is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.
- Not previously selected as a RYDY.
- Demonstrates concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
- Demonstrates leadership either in the RIAND/AND, legislation, research, education, management, or employment.
Emerging Dietetic Leader Award (EDL):
The EDL Award recognizes the competence and activities of dietitians regardless of their age, who have made distinctive contributions early in their dietetics careers to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.- Member of AND and actively participated in RIAND for 5 years or greater and no greater than 10 years. Interrupted careers or time periods not in practice, are not to be considered or rationed into the 5-10 years of professional practice experience.
- Is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, or Dietetic Technician, Registered.
- 5-10 years of professional practice experience.
- Not previously RYDY or RDTY.
- Demonstrates concern for the promotion of optimal health and nutritional status of the population.
- Demonstrates leadership either in the RIAND/AND, legislation, research, education, management, community or employment.
Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Award (ODY):
The ODY Award recognizes the commitment to excellence made by an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the profession.
- Member of AND
- 35 years or older.
- Is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.
- Not previously selected for ODY in current or any other affiliate.
- Demonstrates leadership either in the RIAND/AND, legislation, research, education, management, community or employment.
- Meets two of the following criteria:
- Active participation and service in RIAND
- Provides a positive image, serves as a pacesetter and innovator
- Increases awareness of AND/RIAND, further profession through mass media
24 Carrot Award:
The 24 Carrot Award was established by RIAND in 1997 to recognize individuals or organizations for their distinctive contributions to the fields of dietetics, public health, or health promotion. Past recipients of the 24 Carrot Award have been Barbara Morse (2002), Alan Shawn Feinstein (2003), New England Dairy and Food Council (2005), Shape up RI (2008), Jack Reed (2012), Michelle Obama (2014).- Individual or Organization that contributes to the field of dietetics, public health, or health promotion
Retired Dietitian of the Year
This award is to recognize a retired Dietitian that continues to contribute to the field of nutrition and dietetics in a positive way. This award highlights commitment to the field, both during and after retirement. The Retired Dietitian of the Year award is presented to an ongoing role model and trusted source of nutrition expertise.
Courtney Huard Compassion Award
The Courtney Huard Compassion Award is to honor Courtney Huard, who was passionate about her work and sincerely cared about those she worked with. This award recognizes a person in the dietetics field who demonstrates passion for the field of nutrition and dietetics through patience and empathy, with a genuine interest in the clients or population they serve.
