HORIZONS SWAP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Two young adult leaders who have completed the Horizons Leadership Program with the Jewish Federation of Broward County, will get to experience Nesher, our partnership city in Israel from December 31, 2019 – January 5, 2020. The program will include accommodations at the Partnership Apartment in Nesher, and participants will be hosted in local horizons members/alumni homes for social bonding opportunities.

As a part of the swap program the selected individuals will have the opportunity to engage with Nesher’s young adult leaders; Nesher-Horizons members and alumni. The result for Broward Horizons alumni will be to volunteer and involvement in a variety of social activities to better understand the region and its population. In addition the selected participants will explore the life of young adults in Nesher, primarily their community involvement and local social activism, with the intention of learning to lead a peer-to-peer social community engagement project with the young adult leadership of the Jewish Federation of Broward County.

PROGRAM COST:

All program land costs are paid for by the Partnership budget. Broward Federation will subsidize $500 towards airfare.  
Applicant requirements:

• Active young adult leaders who have completed the Horizons Leadership Program with the Jewish Federation of Broward County
• Minimum gift of $1000 to the Jewish Federation of Broward County Annual campaign
• Participating in a mandatory orientation meeting with the Jewish Federation of Broward County professionals prior to the trip
• Participating in post trip program evaluation meeting with the Jewish Federation of Broward County professionals
• Agreeing to plan, host and lead a peer-to-peer social community engagement program/event within six months from the trip return date, coordinated with the Jewish Federation of Broward County professionals
• Nominate relevant successors
• Must agree to speak on behalf of the Federation about your trip experience, what you gained from the trip and how did this program impacted you. Applicants should be able to demonstrate and express:
o How this opportunity is likely to make a difference in their life, and in the life of those around them
o How their involvement with the Jewish Federation of Broward County have empowered them as community leaders.

PROCESS:

• Applicant will complete the application below and submit together with a passport photocopy to the Jewish Federation of Broward County, 5890 S. Pine Island Rd., Davie FL 33328 or email to ldonner@jewishbroward.org by October 31, 2019.
• Application will complete an interview with the federation professionals by November 8, 2019
• Selected participants will be announced Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
