Electrify Everything - The 4 Questions
If you are electrifying just to electrify, the odds are you'll be tempted by "cheaper but just as good" options - which are the path to crappy results. To avoid this, think hard on WHY you are doing a project, and what things you would like to solve in your home.

These 4 questions are the beginning of that path, when you get to the end of the course we have a highly detailed questionnaire for you if you'd like to work with us after finishing the Electrify Everything course. For now, start with this quiz and then do the learning part. =)

If you want a copy of the results, put in your email, otherwise just screen shot it. We won't use these emails for marketing, they are just to send your results to you.

If it was a person that sent you our way, who was it? If through social media or a website, what did you look for that lead you to us?
Question 1: Parts of my house are uncomfortable or sticky in summer. *
Hint: Is it warmer when you walk up the stairs? Does it feel sticky some days? Do you notice odors on humid days? Is any room noticably warmer than the rest of the house? Is it hard to fall asleep sometimes because of the heat?

Question 2: Parts of my house are uncomfortable or dry in winter. *
Hint: Do you use a blanket when watching TV? Do you wear slippers because the floor is chilly? Is one room a bit colder than the rest of the house? Do you stop using any rooms because they are too cold in winter? Do you use a lot of lotion because of dry skin? Is there a cold waterfall of air down your stairs?

Question 3: There are health concerns in my home/family such as allergies, asthma, mold, excessive dust, pests, chemical or mold sensitivities, etc. *
Hint: We breathe 3000 gallons of air per day, mainly in our homes. Buildings effect our health, for example childhood asthma has been causally linked to damp buildings. By understanding any health concerns, we're more likely to be able to help.

Total Score - We find that clients who have a high overall score or a high score for one question benefit from doing a little extra legwork and planning before replacing their equipment.
Add up the four scores. 0-12 is usually A path or a free quote and like for like replacement, 12-18 is A or B, and 20+ is usually a B path or a Comfort Consult. If any answer is an 8 or more, a Comfort Consult is probably the best path. See the video below for more on those.
Bonus Questions 1: How important is it to you to electrify your home? *
Not important
Extremely important
Bonus Question 2: How much would you spend per month, forever, to electrify your home without any comfort or health benefits? (It may be helpful to think about paying more in rent.)
This is an important thing to consider, your project will cost money, if your house needs a lot of work, particularly in cold climates, it will likely cost a LOT of money. We ask about monthly because it switches mindsets to what something is worth rather than what it costs. The idea here is that these benefits are for society and the world at large, you get no direct benefit. Typical things that might be valued here are solving for climate, reducing carbon emissions, air quality improvements, public health benefits, etc.

Bonus Question 3: If you were renting your house, how much more per month would you pay in rent to make the problems you began exploring in the 4 questions go away?
Now you're cooking! (With induction, not gas!) Figuring out what it's worth to do a project is very important to consider. A project has to be worth doing, without side benefits they often aren't. This is why we ask about your why, because "how much" is coming next. If you're lucky and your HVAC equipment is due for replacement and your house isn't very leaky, you may only be looking at a $3-6K bump in cost to get higher end HVAC (that's $25-50/month over 15 years). That higher end system will not only electrify, but provide excellent comfort and air quality. If you have to justify ripping out a newer piece of equipment and your house needs a lot of insulation and air sealing work, you can easily be looking at the $200-400/mo range for 15 years. In the current resale market, expect to get $0 more at resale. If energy use was published at resale you would likely get part of the cost back.

Free quote (Path A) or Comfort Consult (Path B)?
We're building the HVAC 2.0 system to be very electrification friendly. The first thing to figure out in the HVAC 2.0 system is: are there problems in your house you'd like to solve? You just answered The 4 Questions that lead to that answer.. This video talks about the differences between a free quote and the HVAC 2.0 Comfort Consult that is the next step towards electrification. We highly recommend that you carefully size your HVAC when electrifying it.   https://bit.ly/2Ju5PXd
Did this make you think about things you hadn't before? What are they?
Thanks for your response on this one, we're putting this course out there for free, this is part of how you can pay us - with constructive positive or negative feedback. =)
