Year 11 Parents' Evening March 2021
Thankyou for attending our Virtual Parents’ Evening which was a new experience for both staff and parents. We continue to seek new ways of communicating as we work together in these challenging times to help your child to progress to their next step in education, training or employment.
We hope that you enjoyed the opportunity to speak with the staff to identify strengths and ways of moving forward so that your child is able to maximise their potential and provide evidence to support their learning. Written reports will be issued within the next two weeks and these will reflect the information give in the parents evening. Pupils will not receive grades for their subjects at this time. The Centre Determined Grades (CDGs) will be a replacement for the GCSE exams. If we were to give grades, you would understandably have a reasonable expectation that these would correlate closely with the later CDGs when that process is complete. Given that the finer details of this process have not been announced by Qualifications Wales at this stage, clearly this is by no means guaranteed. Furthermore, we would not wish to give a misleading impression that might otherwise lead pupils to conclude that they had already done everything necessary to achieve their desired grades
It is important that pupils and staff concentrate on the teaching and learning to ensure that pupils move their learning forward. There is still time left for pupils to show what they can do and understand and pupils will be given a variety of opportunities to illustrate this.
