Margaret Bluhm Worker of the Year
The Worker of the Year Award was established at the Annual Meeting of the Arizona Chapter of the American Association of Workers for the Blind in 1972. On February 1, 1989, the Arizona Chapter of the Association for Education & Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired voted to honor Margaret Bluhm by naming the award the Margaret Bluhm Worker of the Year Award. Since that time, this award has annually recognized an individual in our state who has made an outstanding contribution to the field on behalf of infants, children, and/or adults who have visual impairments.
We welcome and invite you to nominate your colleagues for the Margaret Bluhm Worker of the Year Award. Please see below for award criteria:
• Any Arizona professional who is not a previous winner of this award shall be eligible for nomination.
• Evaluation shall be based on a nominee’s total career, with emphasis on the most recent years.
• Award recipient criteria includes:
1. Service to persons with visual impairments, primarily in Arizona.
2. Service to profession or the field of visual impairment.
3. Service to AER, primarily AZ Chapter.
4. Service to other special needs groups or to the community.
5. Other relevant accomplishments.
Nominations will be accepted until September 30th. The award recipient will be recognized at the AZ AER fall conference.
