**LIGHTNING TALKS APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APRIL 3RD**

We're having a lightning talks event during the conference!

This form is for applying to give a lightning talk during the upcoming EAGxAustin conference, which will happen in Austin, Texas from April 13 to 14, 2024.

EAGxAustin lightning talks will be presentations of 5 minutes or shorter with the option of accompanying slides. There will possibly be time for a short (<4 minutes) Q&A after each speech.

The deadline to apply to give a lightning talk is Wednesday, April 3rd at 11:59pm USA Central Time. By Friday, April 5th, we will reach out to you if your talk has been selected.

***NOTE: This form was originally also used to suggest speakers for our main (longer) talks, but we have now confirmed all of our main speakers for the event.***

A quick note

There's no specific criteria of what we're looking for in a talk, but we will prioritize ideas that meet any of the following objectives:

- Introducing attendees to Effective Altruism (EA) and its fundamental ideas.
- Educating attendees about impactful altruistic opportunities in careers, philanthropy, and research.
- Assisting attendees in finding jobs, project collaborators, and mentors.
- Helping attendees develop skills and plan their next career steps.
- Building a supportive community and network for attendees, especially those in non-hub American cities.
