MINISTRY LEADERSHIP COVENANT
Thank you for your interest in serving at Keystone Church. We appreciate your willingness to take the time to fill out this commitment form. It is important to the health of our church. There are a few things we want to make sure we say up front about what we believe as an organization and genuinely desire for your Christian walk.

Keystone Church operates under biblical authority and historical tradition. We recognize the Bible as the ultimate source of truth, wisdom, and authority as a guide to holy living as exemplified throughout generations.

The expectation of those serving in roles with our youth is that you are actively submitting to the authority of Christ as described in the authoritative account of scripture.

Below are the scripturally affirmed qualifications for those who hold leadership positions. These qualifications are not to point out a category of people that God does not love or to whom he does not offer His grace. This understanding is vital in order to see Christian parameters correctly.

Many of us may feel very unqualified to lead others spiritually, or even understand the full extent to what it means to follow Christ. It is important to affirm that we have a God who extends his great love and grace to all people regardless of his or her current lifestyle or choices. It is out of his love, that he desires us to be fully free from sin in all areas of our lives. This is our desire also. If you feel disqualified after reading the list below, please do not allow that to deter you from meeting with a ministry director. Individuals leading in this ministry are expected to (please confirm below that you understand):

_________ Be faithful to their spouse in marriage.
Exodus 20:14; Matthew 5:27-28; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Hebrews 13:4

_________ Refrain from participation in any/all sexual sin. These would include:
Pornography, Homosexual relationships, Chaste in dating and singleness
Genesis 2:24; Malachi 2:13-15; Matthew 19:4-6; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Ephesians 5:25-32; Deuteronomy 5:18; Leviticus 18; Romans 1:24-32; 1 Timothy 1:9-10

_________ Affirm their God-given biological gender.
Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 5:1-2; Matthew 19:4-5

_________ Provide for the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs of their own family and self.
1 Timothy 5:8, Luke 11:11-13; Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21

_________ Be generous and willing to share time, skills, and resources.
Deuteronomy 15:7-8; Psalm 41:1-3; Proverbs 11:24-25; Proverbs 19:17; Matthew 10:42; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; 1 Timothy 6:17-19

_________ Refrain from the excessive use of alcohol as well as abstain from the use of illicit and recreational drugs.
1 Corinthians 6:12; 1 Timothy 3:3

Volunteers in positions of spiritual influence and leadership are expected to recognize biblical teachings in regards to lifestyle choices. Although prevailing cultural views, morals, and values change, we as a church body, remain committed to the Scriptures and the doctrines of the Wesleyan Church.
MINISTRY LEADERSHIP STANDARDS
What we need you to DO is critical for our ministry, but WHO you are in Christ is even more important. Your spiritual growth is just as important as the spiritual growth of the people to which you are ministering. We are making a commitment to come alongside you with your spiritual development. We also desire to help you discover how God has wired you to serve and help you succeed as a volunteer in whatever role you serve.

We commit to communicate our expectations clearly, provide you the necessary training and tools to do what we have asked, provide opportunities for you to give us feedback on your experience, and do all we can to make sure you grow as you serve, by:

Providing resources for continued discipleship and spiritual growth.
Providing opportunities for 1-on-1s upon request.
Providing periodic large group training opportunities.

Here are some commitments we want you to consider before stepping into ministerial leadership at Keystone Church:
1. Serving is not a substitute for worship
We are expecting that you prioritize attendance in one of the congregational worship services.

2. Come prepared to serve
Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of your service.
Be sure to read the Connect Desk email prior to arriving when sent.

3. Abide by dress code and wear name badges where necessary
You will be given a ministry T-shirt. Wear this each time you serve. Please dress modestly and appropriately for ministry.

4. Communicate in a timely and effective manner
If you are unable to fulfill the role you are scheduled for (due to illness or a schedule conflict) please contact your ministry director to let them know as soon as possible.

7. Be responsible with your online presence
We ask that you leverage social media appropriately, and with the body of Christ you belong to in mind.

8. Be willing to seek counsel when needed
Should you or a mentee (child/student/parents) be struggling with deeper theological, psychological, or lifestyle challenges that require pastoral or professional counseling, we ask you to engage your ministry director to navigate those resources.

9. Abide by all safety protocols listed in family ministry manual***

***Each ministry environment has its own safety procedures and protocols. This form is to list general standards we desire. Please adhere to the family ministry safety manual for your specific area of service.

If you have concerns or questions please contact your ministry director. It’s our desire to care for you:
Volunteer and Outreach Director: Alicia Somers (alicia@keystonechurch.us)
