Welcome to "Unveiled Threads," a groundbreaking exhibition that pushes the boundaries of wearable art and fiber, showcasing avant-garde designs, fine artistry, inventive textiles, and show-stopping imagery. This event aims to celebrate the intersection of art and fashion, inviting both artists and the audience to explore the limitless possibilities of wearable expression and the celebration of static fiber art to be shown in ArtWRKD Exhibition Space at 128 South State Street, Newtown.
The exhibition will highlight avant-garde creations that challenge conventional norms in wearable art. Artists are encouraged to explore unconventional materials, techniques, and concepts to redefine the boundaries of fashion.
Fine Artistry:
Emphasis will be placed on pieces that blur the lines between fashion and fine art. Artists are encouraged to infuse their creations with thought-provoking narratives, symbolism, and deeper meanings.
Inventive Textiles:
The exhibition will feature innovative use of textiles, fibers, and materials. Artists are invited to experiment with sustainable fabrics, interactive elements, and technology integration to create one-of-a-kind pieces that captivate the imagination.
Show-Stopping Imagery:
Beyond the garments themselves, the exhibition will incorporate visual storytelling through photography and multimedia displays. Artists are encouraged to submit captivating visuals that enhance the overall narrative of their wearable creations.
Submission Guidelines:
Open Call for Artists:
Artists working in the fields of wearable art, fiber, and mixed media are invited to submit their proposals.
Proposal Requirements:
Detailed description of the wearable art piece.
Materials and techniques used.
Artist statement explaining the concept and inspiration.
High-quality images or sketches of the proposed creation.
Up to five works can be submitted and up to three accepted per artist.
Selection Process:
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the fields of art and fashion. Experts will be shared when submissions open February 1st 2024.
Selected artists will be notified and provided with detailed exhibition guidelines.

April 23rd/24th -Work Drop due and Gallery Install
April 26th -VIP Opening evening event to preview the exhibition
April 27th -Public Opening
April 27th-May12th -Exhibition Run
May 10th -Wearable Art Fashion Show at The Historic Newtown Theatre followed by ArtWRKD Exhibition Wrap party.
May 11th-12th - Last weekend
May 13th/14th De-Install
Artist Workshops at ARTWRKD Workshop Space:
Engage with the artists through hands on workshops, offering insights into their creative processes and the evolving landscape of wearable art. (based on showing artists interest)
Unveiled Threads-Wearable Art Fashion Show:

Historic Newtown Theatre seats 250 audience members
The work in the exhibition space comes to life at the Historic Newtown Theatre with a fashion show showcasing the work of the Exhibition artists, including an immersive experience and video installation and ending with an Artist Panel Discussion about their inspiration and Journey led by ARTWRKD guest speaker.
