Eurybates 2021-10-20 RECON Campaign
NASA's Lucy mission and RECON are organizing a joint campaign to observe an occultation by (3548) Eurybates, a Lucy mission target. The occultation will be visible from California, Nevada, and Arizona just after 5 am local time on October 20, 2021. More details can be found at http://lucy.swri.edu/occ/20211020Eurybates.html.

We hope to get at least 20 stations on the sky for the event but the result will be even better with more.  If all RECON teams participate we should be able to get up to 40 stations.  This will be a mobile deployment that will last at least three nights (two for training and preparation on the nights of October 17/18 and 18/19, and one night for the event October 19/20).  There are questions below that relate to this notional schedule.  The most likely deployment zone will be in the desert north of Las Vegas.  Teams will travel with their RECON scopes if possible and there will be additional RECON scopes provided for those teams too far away for driving. Funding for travel and substitute teachers will be provided.

If you would like to be involved in this deployment, please fill out the information in the form below.
