Priority will be given to participants who cannot reach the base of the glacier by hiking. Do you have any accessibility barriers that would prevent you from hiking up and down the 8km trail with 1300m of elevation gain while carrying a heavy pack? *
Though this is a helicopter assisted trip, you are still required to have a significant level of fitness. While we will allow time for rests, the route includes a full day of travel on uneven terrain. We will be ascending and descending 700m of elevation over about 6 kilometres total. You will need to be able to climb a steep snow slope and large boulders that require high steps and precise foot placement. How do you anticipate you will do at this? *
You will need the following equipment for the trip: Sturdy hiking boots or summer mountaineering boots, harness, helmet, belay device, 2 locking carabiners, glacier crampons, mountaineering axe, daypack with water, lunch, snacks, and extra clothing layers. We have a small library of gear to lend to participants who do not have the required equipment. Do you need to borrow any items from the club? Please list the items you do not have. *
The final cost of the trip will depend on the number of participants and cost of fuel, but we expect it to be between $500 and $600. You will need to $400 to confirm your place on the trip and the remainder once the total is confirmed. Do you understand this? *
