WRITING YOUR LIFE STORY: HOW TO WRITE A POWERFUL MEMOIR * Fridays, May 24 to June 28 (note late start and finish), 1:30 – 3:30 * Instructor: Zsolt Alapi (514) 267-7348 zalapi@sympatico.ca.  ZOOM

The poet Robert Creeley once wrote that writing was a process of “revelation and discovery”. Writing one’s memoir can be an incredible legacy to leave one’s family and friends. It is a testament to a life lived, but also a testament to a voice, a voice that resonates in time and speaks through the person and persona of the writer. In this course, you will be given specific prompts and weekly assignments to inspire you to tell your own story. After, this will be shared with the class, and we will comment on (a) content: what may be added, what questions we are left with, etc., and (b) tone and language, which explores how to powerfully express your feelings both literally and figuratively. The ultimate goal of this course is to inspire you to write and to continue this process through the feedback and suggestions you will have received during this six-week journey.

YOGA - CHAIR * Wednesdays, May 15 to June 19. 10:00-11:00 * Instructor:Shizuyo Okada (514) 756-0952,  okadashizuyo@gmail.com. ZOOM & ROOM 500

Chair Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga, in which the practitioners do postures while sitting on a chair. The chair is also used for support while doing standing postures. For this reason, people with limited mobility or people in a smaller office space can practice Chair Yoga with relative ease. It is especially fitting for those who have difficulties sitting or lying down on the floor. Even if you have no mobility issues, if you wish to focus on a light yoga session that increases body awareness and flexibility, this can be a good option. If you are attending in person, please note that you will need a yoga mat in the classroom to secure the chair, as the floor is too smooth otherwise. If you are attending online, please prepare a sturdy chair with no wheeled legs - if the chair doesn't slide on the floor, no yoga mat is required.

YOGA - HATHA * Mondays, May 13 to June 17 (holiday May 20) (5 weeks only).
12:15 - 1:15 * Instructor:  Shizuyo Okada (514) 756-0952  okadashizuyo@gmail.com.  ZOOM & ROOM 500

Hatha Yoga (mixed-level): A well-rounded experience, consisting of yoga postures (asanas) with some modifications and options, fluid movements, breathing exercises, as well as guided relaxation to help physical and mental wellness. A yoga mat is required. Some yoga experience is helpful, but not necessary. If you've had serious injuries and/or surgeries, please let the instructor know beforehand.
