Our Blue Leadership Program is a 9-week program open to all students regardless of  leadership experience or class year. The program includes workshops that focus on understanding who you are and what that might mean in group settings. This program aims to give you the language, confidence, and skills to get connected with communities and bring your best self as a leader.

The 9-week program will meet on Fridays from 11:00am - 12:30 pm beginning on Friday, September 24 and ending on Friday,  November 19. All members that are selected are expected to attend all sessions in order to complete the program.

Our Gold Leadership Academy is designed for our junior and senior students who hold a leadership role on campus. The program focuses on strategic planning, assessment, and creating equitable and sustainable initiatives so students can identify how to create change within communities and organizations.

The program is a year-long commitment . We will only have one cohort for 15-20 students. In order to be eligible for the program, students will have to fill out an application and attend an interview. We require a 2.5 GPA and for applicants to be in good standing with the institution.

In the Fall semester, participants will meet weekly on Fridays from 1:00-2:30pm from Friday, October 15th through Friday, December 10.  The curriculum will focus on creating an intentional, realistic action plan to implement as a leader on campus. Students will be paired with a DSA mentor once they confirm their participation in the program. The expectation is that they meet with their mentor between 4 times before the semester closes, ideally every other week. In-class meetings will alternate between external presenters and in-group discussions. By the end of the Fall semester, students should have a complete proposal regarding a goal they have to implement for the community they are a part of.

In the Spring semester, the cohort will continue meeting as they did in the Fall and the time will remain the same; Fridays from 1-2:30pm. The content will focus on their reflections around implementing their goal, as well as engaging in conversations around intentional management. Mentor meetings should continue on a biweekly basis. The program will conclude with an end of year celebration that will highlight participants leadership journeys at Hofstra since their arrival, with the emphasis on takeaways from the program. Lastly, participants will be celebrated and acknowledged at the end of year Hofstra Student Leadership Awards Ceremony.
