Hello Canadian Healthcare Professional Learners!

We are the GreenMeds Coordinators at UofT's Temerty Faculty of Medicine and we have partnered with CASCADES (https://cascadescanada.ca/), CAPE, CANE, and CFMS-HEART to create a Canadian-wide speaker series addressing climate change and its impacts on health and our healthcare system.

Climate change has profound implications for health and healthcare. But healthcare professional trainees often have little to no exposure to climate and sustainability topics during their training. This series will introduce students to the impact of climate change on health and health equity, what this means for healthcare, and how we can advocate and promote a more resilient and sustainable health system in a low carbon world.

The speaker series consists of 6 sessions in total, each ~1hr in length. In order to receive a certificate of completion, students must attend a minimum of 4/6 sessions AND write a brief reflection on their experience (250-500 words; more details on this will be provided for those who express interest in participating). Students who do NOT wish to participate in the program are welcome to join as many or as few sessions as they want.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each session will feature 2-3 speakers from diverse health professions backgrounds who will share their experiences pertaining to sustainable healthcare, followed by a live Q&A session. Each session will take place on a Wednesday at 4pm PST / 5pm MST / 6pm CST / 7pm EST / 8pm AST / 8:30pm NT. Further details on speakers for each session will be released shortly!

FAQs

How will I get the zoom link for the session?: The link will be emailed from the email: greenmedsut@gmail.com shortly before the session and will also be posted on the Cascades Canada website: https://cascadescanada.ca/event/climate-health-and-healthcare-2022-03-23/ 

If I miss a session, can I watch it later?: Yes! The sessions are recorded and you can find the links here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCknP5h1OsSOjQJfMBXN2ygg/videos 

Will watching a recorded session count towards my 4/6 sessions for the certificate?: Unfortunately it will not count towards the 4/6 sessions as it is difficult for us to track viewership.
