Dance Marathon at FSU is seeking a Finance Chair to assist in the collection, organization, tracking, and processing of the large amount of donations we receive in the months leading up to and during the 40-hour marathon.
This position will oversee the intake, documentation, and deposits of thousands of dollars from individuals and teams fundraising For The Kids. The Finance Chair will work closely with the Finance Director and oversee a close team of four coordinators.
Responsibilities:
Develop/update internal Excel spreadsheets to track transactions as they occur and categorize them in order to provide financial analysis.
Ensuring that the fundraising platform website is up to date by verifying offline donations as they are received.
Maintaining a working relationship with the Shands Hospital Advisor to ensure that all deposits, paperwork, documentation, and donation verification is completed in a timely manner.
Collaborating closely with the management team and advisors to report on DM's financial status.
Recording, tabulating, and organizing all donations received throughout our 40- hour Dance Marathon event.
Maintaining detailed records the night-of to ensure that our final total is accurate.
Collect, count, and tabulate cash/check donations as they are received.
Understand, communicate, and be able to fix problems with individual/team fundraising accounts through our fundraising platform.
Be current on all fundraising efforts being conducted by the Executive Board and dancer teams (e.g. Walmart canning, fundraising campaigns, etc.).
Work closely with all internal and external teams, to effectively communicate tracking and growth potentials.
Plan, organize, and execute Canning days throughout the year.
Requirements and Skills:
Exceptional organizational skills and a love of numbers! You believe Finance is fun!
Must be a full-time student at Florida State University with a GPA of 2.5 or above.
Must be able to commit to this role through the entire year, including summer, fall, and spring until two weeks after the Dance Marathon event.
Must not be studying abroad during Fall or Spring semesters.
Must have a working knowledge of Excel; any additional Excel skills are extremely beneficial.
Willingness to learn how to use the online donation platform that DM utilizes.
Enthusiasm to learn the business processes/documentation required by the hospital.
Outstanding communication skills & collaborative attitude.
