Each major in the College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte has a different freshman curriculum. Therefore, it is critical that you choose, or at least be nearly close to choosing, the specific major that you would like to pursue prior to registering for classes at NSO. Prior to your orientation session, please complete the worksheet below.

Students who indicate an interest in Mechanical Engineering but chooses to remain ENGR for the first semester should understand that admission into Mechanical Engineering is competitive due to enrollment growth and classroom and laboratory size constraints. In order to be eligible to declare Mechanical Engineering must meet eligibility requirements as established by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science:

1) Students must have a first semester GPA of 2.8 or higher
2) Successful completion of MATH 1241 and CHEM 1251/MEGR 1100

In the event that you do not meet the requirements to change at the end of your first semester, you will have the opportunity to be reconsidered at the end of your second semester.
