To ensure the health and safety of students and staff during the ongoing pandemic, the OCDSB will only be offering online Summer School courses and programs (with the exception of cooperative education).  Unfortunately, in-person Summer School courses and programs will not be offered this year.

Once this form has been submitted, you will receive an automated e-mail confirmation of your request.  Your child's Guidance Counsellor will then ENROLL them into the requested course, after which a second automated e-mail notification will be sent to you and your child.  With the exception of some courses, ALL students will be WAITLISTED until as late as June.

After class lists have been created in June, you and your child will be sent a third automated e-mail after they have been either ACCEPTED into the course, or WAITLISTED if the course is full, or CANCELLED should the course be cancelled due to under enrollment

You may register your child for one (1) of the following programs: See descriptions below

1. Virtual Reach Ahead Credit Program (synchronous).

2. eLearning Program (asynchronous).

3. Co-operative Education Program (1 or 2 credit) either face-to-face or virtual.

4. Virtual Credit Recovery for up to three (3) credits (recovering parts of an unsuccessful credit online, i.e., one in which the student earned a final mark of less than 50% or an "I" within the last two years).

2. Summer eLearning Program for Grades 9-12.Program duration:  June 29 - July 28, 2021

In many ways learning online is like learning in a classroom. Students will read, work independently or as a member of a group, complete assignments and interact with their teacher and classmates. Instead of being in the same place at the same time they meet in cyberspace at a time of their choosing each day. Each course is facilitated by a teacher who controls the timing of the course to encourage collaboration and enable effective feedback.  Students do not work through the course at their own speed.

In each eLearning course, the teacher will schedule one hour each afternoon as virtual office time. This will provide students with an opportunity to connect directly with their teacher each day. This optional virtual meeting will be hosted in a Google Meet or in a VLE Virtual Classroom.

3. Co-operative Education Program:. Virtual and In Person Placement Opportunities. Program Duration:
1 credit: June 29 - July 22, 2021 (No classes on July 1)
2 credit: June 29 - August 13, 2021 (No classes on July 1, August 2)

This Summer Program will offer students enrolled in Grades 11 and 12 for the 2021-2022 school year the opportunity to gain valuable work experience directly in the workforce through face-to-face placements. In addition, students may choose to work in a virtual placement or with a virtual mentor(s) within a community organization with a sector specific focus such as business, healthcare, or law, among others.  These options are available in both English and French languages.  Finally, students may choose a purely virtual co-op experience through the DCO3O course in a virtual platform that includes virtual guest speakers, a digital classroom and other virtual learning experiences.  Note: Students who previously have successfully completed DCO3O are not eligible to repeat this course and receive additional credit(s).

4. Credit Recovery Program.Program Duration: July 2 - July 23,  9:00am - 12:15pm

Continuing Education will offer a virtual Credit Recovery opportunity for students recommended by their day school. Credit recovery is available to students who had a final grade of less than 50% during the 2020/21 school year.

Course Options: Priority will be given to compulsory credits at grade 9 - 12 levels (including ESL/ELD).
Students may be registered in up to 3 Credit Recovery courses.
Students will engage in both synchronous and asynchronous learning throughout the scheduled school day via Google Meets and Google Classroom.
