Clinician Remote Wednesday Survey
The CTU-CPS High School MOA is clear: https://www.ctulocal1.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/MOA-HS-Addendum.pdf

It states: "For RSPs and Itinerant teachers that serve elementary or high schools, Wednesday remote work is allowed if the staff member does not have in-person student services or assessments and the schools they serve do not need to schedule make up appointments to meet IEP requirements for student service minutes."

CPS managers should not be denying elementary or high school clinicians or itinerants to work remotely on Wednesday if their students are remote and they are not scheduled for assessments or make-up IEP minutes. We know that managers are telling some clinicians that they must be in buildings 5 days a week in defiance of this agreement, arguing that the clinician needs to be there just in case for students who are in the building. That is NOT in our agreement. There were not adequate clinician staff to have, for example, a full time school nurse in every school building every day before this pandemic, and there are not still enough yet now. This argument is disingenuous and is intended to intimidate clinicians into utilizing their right to work remotely on some Wednesdays.

Our members take seriously our students's needs and will report when and if there is a grave in-person need, but the agreement is clear that clinicians have the right to remote work on Wednesdays with no in-person services scheduled. CTU provided refusal email language that we encourage clinicians to use and we have filed a grievance to reassert this right.

We need members to take disputes to their School Safety Committee and refer to our District-wide Safety Committee, but also share details here so we can strengthen our enforcement efforts.
