April 6, 2021 CTLE Virtual Workshop Registration - Documenting COVID-19 Pandemic Impacts on Diverse Faculty Careers
Date: Tuesday, April 6, 1:00-2:00pm
Facilitators: Joya Misra, Professor of Sociology and Public Policy, University of Massachusetts Amherst; Dessie Clark, Research Collaboration Coordinator, UMass ADVANCE; Ethel Mickey, Postdoctoral Research Associate, UMass ADVANCE

The past year, with its multiple pandemics, has upended many faculty members' lives. Many faculty have faced increased workload, particularly with the shift to online and hybrid classes, the additional advising and mentoring work for students in crisis, the administrative work of adapting the university to COVID-19, as well as community-engaged racial justice work. At the same time, access to research has been limited for many faculty members doing, for example, bench science, performing arts, archival work, and/or human subjects research. These effects are uneven -- differing by discipline, methodology, gender, race, caregiver status, and other factors.  In this session, we lay out some simple and quick approaches to documenting these effects, allowing faculty members to clearly identify the changing contexts in which they have been carrying out their faculty workload.

Co-sponsored by VCU ADVANCE IT initiative and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI).
