Pertame Ngetya Untya - Pertame Language Nest Expression of Interest Form
This is a program for Pertame 0-5 year olds and their parents to come along to learn Pertame with Educators and fluent Elders, to raise our babies as first language Pertame fluent speakers once again. English will be left at the front door, and only Pertame will be spoken as we run educational and fun activities just like a playgroup. If you are a parent or carer of a Pertame 0-5 year old, enrol now! The language nest will lay strong foundations for Pertame children to establish pride and confidence in their cultural identity, self-esteem and a sense of security within their Pertame community.

Who?
The Language Nest is open to Pertame 0-5 year olds and their parents or carers. This is a playgroup, not a childcare. The idea is for our babies' parents/carers to learn Pertame alongside their baby, support their baby through Nest and then continue to speak language in their homes.

Where?
The Pertame Language Nest takes place at Yipirinya Childcare Centre.  We have bus services picking up babies and carers to come to get to the Nest.

When?
The Language Nest will run 4 days a week, from Tuesday to Friday. Pick ups on the bus start at 9am, and the Nest activities will finish at 1:30pm, for a 2pm bus drop off. It is critical that babies attend the Nest as regularly as possible for the babies to receive enough exposure to the language to become fluent speakers.

Paid positions for Pertame parents/carers:
If you are a Pertame parent or carer of a 0-5 year old, you can apply for a paid role as a Language Nest Supporter. You will be employed to bring your baby into the Nest 4 days a week, and learn Pertame from Elders with your baby. We then encourage you to take Pertame back home, and keep speaking language to your baby outside the Nest.
