Lincoln Music Stars is a choir for 3rd-5th graders offered by Cantare Con Vivo, the organization that provides music for elementary students at Lincoln Elementary School. Music Stars will sing music from all over the world and perform at Lincoln events and in community concerts with other choirs from across Oakland. Students are expected to attend every rehearsal, to stay until the end of rehearsal, and to fully participate in order to be prepared for performances. The choir will rehearse on Wednesdays from 1:45pm to 2:45pm beginning September 4. Program is free of charge.

TEACHING ARTIST: Conway Tan is the Music Education Director for Cantare Children's Choirs. Born in Malaysia, Conway earned a Master in Music Education degree with the emphasis on Kodaly Philosophy. He also serves as the director of Music of Young Adult Mass at St. John Vianney in Walnut Creek and Music director of Sunday Mass at Saint Mary's College of California. He is a founding member of The Green Sally Up Project, an initiative for early-career music teachers for resource and curriculum development. When he is not teaching or directing, he enjoys making arrangements for choir and instruments. As a trilingual person, Conway believes that music provides people the language to speak from the hearts, and has the ability to bring all people closer.
