Breastfeed Durham would like to invite healthcare providers to come to a virtual networking event on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 2:30 pm. We would like to talk about how various organizations and healthcare practices are supporting breastfeeding. Please tell us one thing we might not know about how your organization supports breastfeeding, and tell us what is your organization's favorite benefit of breastfeeding. If you can't make it in person, we would love it if you could send a short video file answering these questions. Please send videos to
durham@breastfeedingcommunities.org.
The Durham County Department of Public Health and Breastfeed Durham will use the responses and video files to work to increase the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding among Durham families.
Especially during the month of August, which is National Breastfeeding Month, we also encourage all Durham healthcare providers to attend the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute's Breastfeeding University (
https://sph.unc.edu/cgbi/breastfeeding-university/), to apply for the NC Breastfeeding Coalition Mother-Baby Friendly Award for outpatient healthcare clinics (
https://www.ncbfc.org/mother-baby-friendly-clinic), and to seek the Baby-Friendly Hospital designation (
https://www.babyfriendlyusa.org/).
