Selection Criteria:

  • Connection to LGBTQIA Community. The artists/group is part of the LGBTQIA community.  The art is directly connected to LGBTQIA themes, issues or space.

  • Interactivity with participants and the environment. Interactive art transforms participants into active contributors to the creative process. A truly interactive piece is completed by participants’ engagement with it.

  • Visual appeal. We value visual impact and beauty. The installation must be an artwork in and of itself. If you are proposing to install an interactive concept or activity that will be housed within a larger structure, the structure itself must be visually appealing as well.

  • Diversity and sustainability. Burning Man Project and Queerburners cares deeply about Radical Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity (R.I.D.E.) and environmental sustainability. We are interested in supporting projects and teams that reflect these values.

  • The thoroughness of your proposal. We will not consider incomplete proposals. If you don’t submit detailed information, for example a thorough budget or descriptive images, it is difficult for the grant committee to fully understand or evaluate your project.

Project Timeline

All projects should be well underway, which was a condition we looked at when reviewing them through the application process. It is assumed that these projects will be delivered and ready for Burning Man  2022: Waking Dreams. We (Funder) assume that it will be the beginning and end of our relationship within the scope of this grant process. Queerburners has no claim of ownership or responsibility of your project.

Change of Scope

If for some reason the project changes dramatically, you will need to inform Funder by email. This may result in a cancellation of the award, especially if the project becomes untenable. There may be reasons that fall under “act of God”, but we want to be a part of that conversation if something happens.

Cancellation Terms

If, for some reason, the project is terminated and not deliverable. Recipient agrees to return money not spent on the project with the detailed reports requested above. Money can be returned by check or paypal. (Do not use our donation channel.)

Conclusion *
I have read and agree to all the terms above. The application window will close on April 15, 2023.
