Text Thread Options
Please read the following descriptions carefully
All-Hands Text - no commitment!
This is a simple text notification for those who are interested in dropping in occasionally if a work day lines up with their schedule. There is no commitment, no need to respond, no option to reply-all, and your number will not be visible to others signed up for this text.

We will use this text to notify you of workdays at our gardens when we need a lot of volunteers, big events like fundraisers and seed saving classes, and reminders about our free food distributions. We expect to send maybe 2-4 texts/mo.

Time commitment: 0
Plot Team Text
This is a text thread option for those who are interested in a weekly commitment with a small group to help maintain one of our plots - no prior experience necessary! As this is a regular group text, your number will be seen by others on the thread.

Responsibilities include watering, weeding, planting, harvesting, mulching, cleaning and storing produce, coordinating volunteers, and general plot maintenance. This is a great opportunity to learn or hone regenerative ag skills and make friends!

We have 5 plots to choose from (see map)
  • Bancroft 2702 S. 10th St.
  • Benson 6117 Bedford Ave.
  • Dorcas 1938 S. 15th St.
  • Myrtle 1123 N. 29th St.
  • Starlight 2926 Myrtle St.
Time commitment: 1+ hours/week
Distro Team Text
This is a text thread option for those who are interested in a weekly/monthly commitment with a small group to help distribute produce through the summer/fall season. This is a great option for social butterflies! As this is a regular group text, your number will be seen by others on the thread, and the thread has the potential to be chatty on the weekends while coordinating distros.

Responsibilities include transporting produce to/from distros, setting up tables/chairs, hosting distros (aka hanging out and chatting with folks about produce), finding a home for produce after distros (these channels are already set up), coordinating the sign up sheet, and acting as liaison with distro partners.

Having a vehicle is recommended for this role since it involves a lot of transport.

We host distros twice a week June-October.
  • Saturdays, 10am-12pm at Bancroft 2702 S. 10th St.
  • Sundays, 10am-12pm at Myrtle 1123 N. 29th St.
Time commitment: 3+ hours/month
Admin Team Text
This is a text thread option for those who are interested in a weekly commitment to help coordinate Free Farm as an org. As this is a regular group text, your number will be seen by others on the thread, and the thread is typically pretty active.

Responsibilities include budgeting, events planning, grantwriting, outreach planning, coordinated growing, marketing, social media management, community engagement, and website maintenance. We hold meetings weekly in the winter, and ~monthly through the growing season. Ideally, a representative from each Plot Team will be able to attend meetings to provide updates.

Time commitment: 2+ hours/week

*Note: Home Growers
Would you like to grow food at home and help supply our distros? That is super rad and we really appreciate it! There is currently no text thread to coordinate these efforts, but you can bring washed produce to our distros and swap it out for something you need!

We host distros twice a week June-October.
  • Saturdays, 10am-12pm at Bancroft 2702 S. 10th St.
  • Sundays, 10am-12pm at Myrtle 1123 N. 29th St.
