Takeout Kids is a new observational documentary series for The Spinoff centring kids who grow up helping out in takeaway shops and restaurants run by their immigrant parents.
We are looking for kids and families from a range of different backgrounds and locations in Aotearoa (with a particular focus on non-Auckland families). Children should be between the ages of 7-17 years old and have an active presence in the takeaway shop/restaurant.

Participants are required to be available for 5 days for filming around June. Filming this series involves spending a concentrated amount of time in the shops observing the family as well as spending time following the main child/teenager outside of the shop environment (e.g. in the family home, at school, in interactions with friends, teachers, extended family, customers, etc.).
We will monitor the situation in relation to COVID-19 and only film under appropriate alert levels. We will also follow a duty of care working with under 18s. A koha will be provided for the participants. A perfect grasp of English is not a requirement and the producers will look for ways to support non-English or non-fluent speakers of English to participate.
We encourage everyone registering to give as much detail as possible in the answers below. Tell us about your local, the kids you've seen grow older over the years, the ones that you've seen doing homework behind the counter, or babysitting their siblings as their parents push out orders.
