Queer in Practice
is an interest group hosted within the Department of Psychiatry at UofT. We welcome all medical learners, faculty, allied health, and others! Our group aims to foster Mentoring, Support, Advocacy and Education in relation to 2SLGBTQ+ mental health.
Our goals are as follows:
1. Mentorship: To foster professional connections on a one-to-one and group basis, inviting staff psychiatrists, residents and medical students to take part.
2. Support: To advance support for 2SLGBTQ+ mental health practitioners, trainees and care for 2SLGBTQ+ populations.
3. Advocacy: To advocate for the development of mental health services focused upon improving wellness for the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
4. Education: To help educate medical learners, psychiatrists, and other mental health practitioners on 2SLGBTQ+ mental health issues and culturally-safe care.
We will be hosting various educational events throughout the year, and hope to establish a community of practice for practitioners, patients, and allies with the shared goal of improving the 2SLGBTQ+ experience with psychiatry and mental health care more generally.
Thanks for your time and we hope to see you soon at one of the events!
