Please read! - These writing samples are presented without levels or context; we want you to just look at the writing and consider just the writing next to the rubric.
- Remember that according to ACTFL, teachers are considered sympathetic. That means that if we *think* we know what they mean, we do! A student who writes "yo me gusto peros" is comprehensible to a sympathetic interlocutor! (And we can stop being sympathetic at the Advanced Low level- that is, with learners getting ready to be Spanish teachers, at the college+ level)
Using the Rubric Short Video Tutorial: https://bit.ly/Holistic-Rubric (3 minutes) - Don't get too hung up on the adjectives in the rubric, like "some" and "wide variety." What does your gut say?
- Be mindful about adding words to the rubric that aren't there! Read closely!
HOW TO: It is easier to read the samples on a Computer Screen, not phone. Control+ (Hold down ctrl and the plus sign) makes the samples larger and easier to read.
There are 8 samples and a place to put your score for each. You do not need to do them all!
When you are done, hit "view score" to see the feedback. (Ignore the points- that's just so we can use the answer key feature in google forms.) Keep in mind: you are the expert! The feedback contains questions to ask yourself to guide you to closer reading of the samples and the rubric.
