If you’re installing a freestanding wood stove through the wall, this guide will help you tremendously! We’ve narrowed in on all of the measurements you’ll need to gather.

One more thing to keep in mind before you move on to the guide - this particular guide is for a freestanding stove being installed in an area without a chimney which will need to pass through a wall.

A1: What fuel is the stove burning? (wood, pellet, gas, etc.)
A2: Is the exhaust outlet on the top or the back of the stove?
A3: What is the inside measurement of the exhaust hole?
A4: Are you planning on installing single wall black stove pipe (18” clearance to combustibles) or double wall black stove pipe (6” clearance to combustible walls / 8” clearance to combustible ceilings)
B1: What is the horizontal measurement from the center point of the exhaust hole on the stove to the side of the wall?
B2: What is the vertical measurement from the center point of the exhaust hole to the center point of where the pipe is going to pass through the wall.
B3: How many offsets (elbows) are needed in order to reach the wall? We offer 45 and 90 degree elbows.
C1: What is the wall thickness measurement?
C2: What is the material on the exterior of the building?
C3: What is the wall construction on the interior of the home?
D1: Is the pipe running up the gable side or the eave side of the home?
D2: Is there a roof overhang or an eave extending over the exterior wall?

D4: What is the vertical measurement from the center point of the wall penetration to the bottom of the eave? And, what is the horizontal measurement from the side of the wall to the edge of the roof overhang?
D5: Do you need the pipe to pass through the eave and roof? If so, please answer.(skip if D3 is Yes)
D6: What is the measurement from the side of the wall to the outside edge of the roof overhang?
D7: What is the pitch of the roof?
D8: What is the lateral / horizontal measurement from the point where the pipe is going to pass above the roof to the peak of the roof?
