Basics of SpecBiz

WHAT IS SPECBIZ? 
SpecBiz is a beginner-friendly and low-commitment environment for you to improve your communication, marketing, professional negotiation, and money management skills. 

WHAT DO MEMBERS DO?
We negotiate and secure deals with businesses all over New York to advertise in the Spectator. Members can contact prospective advertisers via email, phone, in person, or any other way they want!

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT LEVEL? 
Low commitment! We post periodic assignments to earn a set number of points (which can be earned in various ways, such as contacting a business) by a given deadline. The majority of the work for this department is self-paced, independent, and flexible to your schedule. We will only have a few meetings throughout the year.

I DON'T HAVE ANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN BUSINESS, CAN I STILL JOIN?
Of course! Many of our members started out with no experience. We are really accommodating in making sure that each member gets the most out of their work in the department, with detailed guidelines, resources, and advice on contacting businesses to form deals/partnerships.
