Split Enrollment Online Form
Mountain Heights Academy, an online public charter school, in accordance with R277-494 (in effect as of Sept. 1, 2016), supports the following student to enroll in up to two credits at the listed school (a public charter or district school) for co-curricular or extra-curricular courses defined in administrative rule.
Split enrollment does not require students to sign a homeschool affidavit. Mountain Heights Academy is the public school of record. The district school or LEA may enter the student into UTREx for the number of days of membership they accrue at their school. That funding is split and appropriated at the state level at USBE.
The number of credits taken elsewhere for split enrollment cannot exceed 2.0 total credits per year. (Each quarter of a course is 0.25 credits). You can reach 2 credits by taking courses in a variety of ways. For example, you can take 2 full-year courses,1 full year course and 2-semester courses, or 4-semester courses. If you have any questions about your courses and what you can take, please talk with your counselor. ALL schools in UT are connected in the same system. If you are enrolled in too many courses, the system will catch it, and you will be required to drop courses so you don't exceed 2 credits. It's very important you follow these guidelines from the beginning so you don't lose out on credits, etc!
The only courses available to students for “mandatory split enrollment,” meaning the district must allow it, are those that have a co-curricular or extra-curricular component outside of the school day, e.g. choir, debate, band etc.
Any course, except those outlined below, is available for “optional split enrollment,” provided that the district agrees to it. Courses like Teacher’s Aide, Peer Tutor, Directed Studies, Study Hall, and Driver’s Ed will not be approved for split enrollment by Mountain Heights Academy.
This agreement is for one year only and will need to be reviewed and renewed annually.
