An interesting observation is how we often let the TV go standby, but can't stand letting the car go idling. How we let the printer go looking for signals for half a year before we actually use it whilst we don't let the dishwasher go empty.
Strange cases, but my mission is to plant a seed. A seed of thought, thoughts of why is it ok to waste energy when we are talking so much sustainability. And the waste in standby is huge, Energimyndigheten in Sweden says up to 10% of our electricity consumption comes from products in standby.
The clear gain of eradicating standby is a more sustainable society and 10% lower electricity bills. However there's an even bigger gain. Cities are reluctant to expand due to electricity network not being able to provide enough. But if households were to cut standby the cities would be able to promote growth in a larger sense.

To help battle this waste we are therefore creating a complement for todays power outlets to help us using energy more efficient. By answering the following question we hope we can find the best way to make it happen!
