CSUDH Recycling Sorting Quiz
Did you know CSUDH produces almost 600 tons of landfill trash a year?  Help us keep items out of the landfill by knowing what can be recycled and what can't on campus.

Ready to flex your brain muscles? In this 11-question quiz, we'll show you an image and then ask you to select the answer option that fits best.

Campus recycling accepts hard plastics, paper, cardboard, metals, and glass, otherwise known as mixed recycling.  It does not accept Styrofoam, chip bags, foil, plastic wrap/straws, and paper towels/napkins.  A good rule of thumb is if it can be melted and reused (like hard plastics) or if it's a paper product, won't dissolve when wet, there's a good chance it can be recycled.  If it's a combination of two different materials (e.g. foil and plastic, paper and plastic, etc.) then it's not as likely to be accepted.

We also have organics recycling that can accept meats, proteins, bones, veggies, and other food. (You may dispose of these scraps in a CLEAR plastic bag which will be popped and disposed of at the facility later).  Food soiled paper, such as napkins, paper plates, paper containers, pizza boxes, coffee filters, are not accepted in the the compost bin at this time.

Bioplastics, materials produced from biological substance rather than from petroleum (i.e. usually say biodegradable) are not accepted in the organics bin.
