The mission of the Bend Farmers Market is to foster and sustain a centralized market that supports the viability of local farmers and producers who offer fresh local produce and farm products produced sustainably, enhancing the business, nutritional, and community health of Central Oregon.

Member and Officer Expectations

All Members:

Understand the mission of the Bend Farmers Market and participate in supporting sound financial decisions, legal governance, and ethical behavior to support the Market’s mission.

Minimum Time Commitments:

- Attend and prepare for board meetings (2 hrs/month: 1.5 hr meetings and 30 minute preparation)

- Volunteer time and skills to support market endeavors to reach strategic goals (5 hrs/month)

- Advocate for the Bend Farmers Market and be a positive reflection of the Market

- Participate in yearly strategic plan meeting (3 hrs/2 times per year)

Officers:

President: Oversees the board; prepares meeting agenda and runs monthly meetings; acts as primary liaison between market manager and board.

Vice President: Assists with specific goals or presidential duties, such as chairing ad hoc committees and may exercise the power of the President in their absence.

Secretary: Records meeting minutes and distributes for review 1 week post meeting. Updates control documents and handbook.

Treasurer: Manages budget software. Provides quarterly budget report and yearly proposed budget.
