šŸŽ® Game Requirements

To be eligible for the Table to Screen Contest, your submission must meet the following criteria:

āœ… Theme:
Your video game must be inspired by board games. This could include:

  • Adapting the mechanics, themes, or storytelling of an existing tabletop game
  • Creating an original video game that uses board game-inspired mechanics, aesthetics, or genres
You are free to interpret this theme creatively ā€” we welcome innovative and unexpected approaches.

āœ… Playability:
Your game must be fully playable on a standard PC or in a web browser (WebGL preferred).

āœ… Accessibility:

We strongly recommend making your game browser-playable (e.g., WebGL build on itch.io) to increase accessibility for voters.

šŸ“œ Intellectual Property & Usage Rights

āœ… Ownership:

You retain full ownership of your game and all submitted materials.

āœ… Originality:
Your submission must be your own original work. You may build upon older ideas or creations youā€™ve previously worked on, as long as the final result is a new creation submitted specifically for this contest.

āœ… Third-Party Assets:
You may use third-party assets (e.g., art, fonts, icons, audio) as long as they are properly credited in your submission.

āœ… AI-Generated Content:
AI-generated content is allowed if it is clearly acknowledged. You must explain what content was generated using AI (e.g., art, writing, layout, etc.).

šŸ“¢ POTIONS & PIXELS Usage Rights

By entering this contest, you grant POTIONS & PIXELS a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to:

  • Showcase your project at events, online, in print, and in exhibits
  • Reproduce and distribute images and content from your game (e.g., in recap booklets, merchandise, and fundraising materials)
  • Modify or adapt your content slightly for promotional or editorial purposes (with credit)
šŸ“¦ If your project continues to grow beyond this contest, we ask that you acknowledge POTIONS & PIXELSā€™ role in its developmentā€”such as in the rulebook, on the box, or in online credits.

šŸ—³ļø How Winners Are Chosen

The winners of the Table to Screen Contest will be determined by a public vote using ranked-choice voting. The voting period will begin after all submissions have been received, organized, and prepared for gameplay access.

āœ… How It Works:

  • Voters will rank their top five favorite entries, from first to fifth place.
  • Players are required to play multiple games before casting their votes to help ensure fair, informed, and community-driven results.
  • If a voterā€™s top choice cannot win, their vote automatically transfers to their next preferred game.
  • This process continues until the top five winners are determined, with each requiring majority support to win.
šŸŽÆ This voting method respects voter intent, promotes fairness, and ensures that each winning entry is strongly supported by the community.
